Best for: Couples looking for romance

If your dream getaway involves more culture than just lazing by the beach, jet off to Cartagena, where the ocean tides stay above 80 degrees all year long. After exploring the city’s UNESCO-protected colonial neighborhoods, hop on a boat and cruise to Isla Tierra Bomba, a lovely island with a stunning coastline and splendid views. You’ll need to take a boat to Isla Tierra Bomba, but it’s also lovely to embark on a scenic sail from the beach during sunset.

Where to stay: There are tons of fantastic accommodations in the city center, but if you want a proper beach getaway, it’s better to stay on Isla Tierra Bomba. We’re big fans of the beautiful and affordable Hotel Fenix Beach Cartagena.

It’s ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the United States and has some of the warmest water, ranging from 77 to 82 degrees. The calm, clear waters are ideal for snorkeling.

White Beach, Philippines

Best for: Budget-minded travelers who want to live it up on vacation

True to its name, White Beach is covered in sugary sand. It’s also dotted with palm trees, so you can get some relief from the scorching sun without getting wet. That said, we seriously doubt you’ll be able to resist the allure of its warm water (79 to 84 degrees). Be sure to kick back at the beach in the evening to see a jaw-droppingly beautiful sunset.

Where to stay: Henann Crystal Sands Resort rings in at under $200 a night—but you wouldn’t know that judging by its modern rooms, excellent dining and spellbinding vistas.

Ponta Negra, Brazil

Best for: Anyone looking for a relaxing getaway … with a touch of nightlife

Near the city of Natal, the tranquil tides of Ponta Negra rarely, if ever, dip below 79 degrees. That’s good news for travelers keen to jump right into the water in the nearest place to Africa of anywhere in Latin America. Laze on the beach all day and soak up the rays. When the sun goes down, hit up a few of the lively bars in the area.

Where to stay: Ocean Palace Beach Resort and Bungalows is a sprawling property with tons to do, great service and reasonable rates. Enjoy their hot tub, sauna and massage sessions. Indulge in French cuisine at Le Soleil (plus a sushi bar and Pizzaria La Luna). What more do you need?

Smathers Beach, Key West, Florida

Best for: Adults

There’s a reason that snowbirds descend upon Florida in the winter. In Key West, you can expect 69-degree water even in January, and in the height of summer, it soars to 82 degrees. Smathers Beach is one of the best beaches in Florida and has the largest (and arguably nicest) stretch of sand in Key West. Swim, go for a leisurely walk and grab a snack from one of the food trucks.

Where to stay: Orchid Key Inn exudes the laid-back ambiance and charm that makes Key West such a desirable destination. Just be aware that this amazing little island is geared toward adults, so leave the kids with their grandparents and enjoy a few days of grown-up fun.

Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, UAE

Best for: Fans of glitz, glamour, white sand and top-notch resorts

Jumeirah Beach runs along the coastal area of the city and is one of the most visited beaches in Dubai for good reason. The waters of the Persian Gulf reach a steamy 93 degrees. Even in the winter, the thermometer doesn’t drop below 74 degrees. Build sandcastles, bring the kids to the playground, soak in the sea views and savor world-class dining at the many restaurants along Jumeirah Beach.

Where to stay: With six pools, a world-class spa and excellent restaurants, you’ll never want (or need) to leave the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Plus, one of the most popular shopping malls, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, is only a 10-minute stroll from the hotel.

Set on the west coast of Phuket—Thailand’s most popular tourist island—crescent-shaped Patong Beach lures millions of travelers with its golden sands and water that’s consistently between 82 and 86 degrees. Patong Beach is lined with restaurants and bars, nightclubs and massage parlors. In short, the town is synonymous with nightlife. Booze-fueled revelry lasts from sundown to sunrise.

Where to stay: Situated just steps from the Andaman Sea, the 600-key Four Points by Sheraton Phuket Patong Beach Resort offers a great location, affordable rates and contemporary comforts.

Makunufushi Island, Maldives

Best for: Couples, especially honeymooners and those celebrating anniversaries

The Maldives doesn’t have a swimming season because the water is always warm enough (82 to 86 degrees) to dive right in and splash around. There are tons of gorgeous beaches, but we’re partial to the private island of Makunufushi. Soak in the luxury of staying on a private island and kick back in a lounge chair with a tropical drink in hand.

Where to stay: Shack up at the only resort on this private island. COMO Cocoa Island is a bastion of pure bliss, where the delightful and doting staff cater to your every whim as you stare out at the gorgeous scenery from an overwater bungalow.

Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

Best for: Couples and families

The crown jewel of Turks and Caicos, Grace Bay boasts powder-soft white sand and some of the clearest water in the entire world. Adding to the appeal of the turquoise tides? The temperature, which consistently hits the 83-degree mark! With water this crystal-clear, snorkeling is a must. It’s also a great spot to go parasailing.

Where to stay: We love Grace Bay Club for its perfect blend of breezy island vibes and stellar service. Of course, the plush rooms with a view of Grace Bay certainly don’t hurt either.

Tulum, Mexico

Best for: Adults looking for time away from the kids

Tulum—one of the most popular destinations in Mexico—has a magnificent palm-fringed, white sand beach that’s dotted with open-air hotels and restaurants. And the oh-so-blue water of the Caribbean Sea hovers around 82 degrees throughout the year. After you’ve had your fill of salty ocean waves, seek out a freshwater cenote or rent a bike and ride over to the Tulum ruins. FYI, while you can bring the kids, there’s something distinctly adult about this Yucatán Peninsula gem, so maybe leave the little ones at home.

Where to stay: Barefoot luxury is the name of the game in Tulum. No place does that better (or looks more Instagram-perfect) than Ahau Tulum. Lounge on the eco-conscious cabanas and huts, enjoy daily yoga lessons and partake in the sunrise meditation sessions.

Matira Beach, Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Best for: Travelers who don’t mind splurging

Often described as the most beautiful beach in the world, Matira Beach captivates all who step foot on its white sand. The shade-giving palm trees and warm, turquoise water (it rarely dips below 79 degrees) round out the dreaminess of it all. Besides going for a swim, hiking the scenic trails, shopping and hitting the snack bar, snap some photos to make friends and family back home jealous.

Where to stay: Perched on the east side of Matira Beach, the luxurious InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora boasts irresistible overwater bungalows. You’ll have the chance to explore world-class dive sites and jump straight off your private pontoon for a swim. If heaven exists, we’re pretty sure this is what it looks like.

Turquoise Bay, Australia

Best for: Everyone, whether you’re traveling solo, with your significant other or with the whole family

Western Australia is blessed with an abundance of incredible beaches. Turquoise Bay in Cape Range National Park shines just a bit brighter than the rest when it comes to the best beaches with warm water. Its glimmering turquoise waters are the primary selling point. And they’re not just beautiful to look at—the tides reach 79 degrees during peak season, making swimming and snorkeling  popular pastimes at Turquoise Bay. There’s also a spectacular scenic viewpoint.

Where to stay: Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef Safari Camp channels that rugged spirit of adventure that’s so much a part of Australia while mixing in plenty of nice-to-have comforts that push it into the category of clamping.

Orient Bay Beach, Saint Martin, Caribbean

Best for: Vacationers who are all about the beach

The Caribbean island of Saint Martin contains 37 square miles of sandy beaches with clear blue water that stays a balmy 80 degrees year-round, peaking at 88 degrees as August turns into September. Each beach has its own vibe, but glamorous Orient Bay Beach, known as the Saint-Tropez of the Caribbean, offers French flair, people watching and fabulous hotels and dining spots in addition to the delightfully warm sea waters. If you tire of lazing in the warm water, try kitesurfing, a popular local activity.

Where to stay: With a premier location as the only hotel directly on the sugar sands of Orient Beach, the Orient Beach Hotel is one of our favorite spots to stay for its mix of barefoot luxury, sea views and spacious suite accommodations.
